Bring your family to Northern Norway this summer

Bardufoss offers a range of activities and attractions suited for the whole family. One can easily make it to Bardufoss by air from the capitol Oslo. Scandinavian Airlines offers 2-3 direct flights from Oslo to Bardufoss every day. Bardufoss Hotel is about a 5 minute drive from the airport.  One can furthermore fly to either Tromsø or Narvik and enjoy a 2-hour road trip to Bardufoss. You find Bardufoss along the E6.

Here are our 6 favorite summer activities

Visit the Worlds northernmost animal park

The Polar Park is the home to Norway’s large predators such as bears, wolves, and lynx as well as deer, moose, reindeer and muskox. The park is about a 45 minute drive from the hotel.

Visit a local farm and meet their Alaskan Huskies

Come and say hello to real life Alaskan huskies.  Learn more about the dogs and how dog sledding works. Often one can find the cutest puppies on the farm. The dogs are always ready for both cuddles and action. Offtrack experience offers dog sledding experiences both in winter and in summer.  Please note that the huskies are well adapted to cold climate, for this reason it is not possible to go dog sledding on warm summer days.

Horseback riding

How about experiencing the fabulous views of Northern Norway on a true Norwegian horse breed?  Nordlandshesten (also called lyngshesten) is a Norwegian horse breed, from the area of Lyngen in the Troms county in Northern Norway, not too far from our hotel. The national center for the Norlandshest/Lynghest offers horseback riding suited for ages and levels.

Canoeing

Explore our river, Målselva in a canoe or on a fleet. Off Track Experience offers canoeing experience for the whole family, and will choose the route according to the weather conditions and wishes from the group. They will ensure that you will safe and comfortable, while you go down the river. You will be able to enjoy some spectacular nature views while on the river.
