Meet arctic animals in Bardufoss 

Visit the Polar Park

There are good chances to spot wild and domesticated arctic animals when moving around in the Bardufoss area. However, if you looking to organize a great family outing, and at the same time make sure that you see all our large predators such as bears, wolves, and lynx as well as deer, moose, reindeer and muskox we recommend a visit to the Polar Park. The park is about a 45 minute drive from the hotel and well suited for the whole family.

The aim of the Polar Park is to create a Norwegian wilderness experience with the beautiful surroundings of Northern Norway’s nature. The park exhibits the animals in their natural surroundings which means that each species also get a lot of room to move around. These days you find tree cute baby bears in the park (born 2020).

The park also offers wolf visits, where you can get up and close with wolves,  guided tours to get some great pictures, and guided tours to learn more about the parks predators. Please note that you need to pre-book these experiences.

Book a moose safari

One can book a moose safari in Bardufoss, where one get a chance to meet the king of the forest in the wild. During the tour the guide will tell you about the moose and the Scandinavian forests and wildlife. Please contact us for more information.

Feed reindeer

​

If you wish to get a chance to feed reindeer, you suggest a visit to a Sami camp. The Sami people are the indigenous people of Northern Europe, and here you can get a chance to learn more about their history and culture in a traditional lavuu (Sami tent). You will here be served traditional Sami food and get a glimpse of reindeer herding. You will experience reindeer up close and even get the opportunity to feed them.
